Ansel uses cast net when goes fishing in Malinau River. He did not get any fish in that spot. With increase pollution from coal mining, fishing become a harder game as the fishes are decrease and tend to swim to upstream river. Local need to go deeper to upstream area to catch the fish. Church in Punan Adiu Village. The history of Catholicism in Punan Adiu was started in 1976 when Italian missionaries and catechists came to Malinau Region. With their education programs, the Punan Adiu and other tribes in the area have gained education and knowledge that would help them in empowering their own community. Most of village leaders who initiated participatory mapping program were students from Catholic school in Malinau.
